USA Golf Magazine publishes practical golf coverage for everyday U.S. golfers. This policy explains how we select topics, use evidence, describe product experience, separate editorial work from commercial relationships, and correct material errors.
Our Editorial Purpose
Our goal is to help readers make clearer decisions about equipment, instruction, golf travel, and the professional game. An article should answer a real golfer’s question, explain important tradeoffs, and add useful analysis rather than repeat a press release or manufacturer page.
We write primarily for everyday golfers, including beginners, improving players, mid-handicap golfers, and experienced players who want practical context before buying equipment, changing technique, or planning a trip.
Evidence and Attribution
We prefer primary and authoritative sources for specifications, rules, schedules, prices, direct statements, and other facts that can change. Manufacturer information may establish an exact model, feature, price, warranty, or attributed design claim, but it is not treated as independent performance evidence.
When an article relies on third-party testing, named fitter observations, ownership reports, or other published evidence, we identify the role and limits of that evidence. Conflicting results are explained when configuration, golfer delivery, ball, conditions, or test method could reasonably account for the difference.
Reviews, Comparisons, and Scores
A Meta Review is USA Golf Magazine’s analysis of attributable third-party evidence. It does not mean that our staff physically tested the product. A research-based editorial review evaluates the documented purchase case, including intended player, verified features, fitting range, price context, ownership support, and buying risk.
A hands-on label is reserved for work with a retained record of the reviewer, exact product, access or sourcing, date, configuration, conditions, comparison baseline, protocol, observations or measurements, and limitations. A product demo or manufacturer briefing is not automatically a hands-on test.
Scores appear only when the article explains the scoring basis and enough applicable evidence supports the result. Evidence confidence describes the strength of the source base, not product quality. When the available evidence does not support a responsible score, the product remains Not Rated. The full equipment framework is available in our review methodology.
Editorial Judgment and Uncertainty
Rankings, shortlists, and recommendations are editorial judgments. They should state who a product or idea fits, why it earned its position, and who should skip it. Personal fitting, technique, budget, course conditions, and individual preference can change the best decision for a particular golfer.
We distinguish verified facts, manufacturer claims, third-party results, editorial analysis, and opinion. We do not turn missing evidence into a made-up average, measurement, quotation, or first-hand experience.
Commercial Relationships
Advertising, affiliate compensation, gifted or loaned products, hosted access, sponsorships, and other material relationships must be disclosed when applicable. Under this policy, a commercial relationship is not an input to an editorial score or independent ranking, and payment cannot purchase an undisclosed positive review. Authorship and Editing
Articles display an assigned author. Contributor biographies and credentials are published only when the information has been verified; we do not invent experience, qualifications, or product use. Material factual claims should be supportable, and time-sensitive facts should be checked near publication or a substantive update.
Updates and Corrections
Prices, product availability, rules, schedules, rankings, and published evidence change. We update content when new information materially affects its usefulness. A factual correction is handled under our Corrections Policy; a routine refresh is not presented as proof that the original reporting was wrong.
