USA Golf Magazine aims to correct material factual errors clearly and promptly after they are verified. This page explains what to send, how a report is evaluated, and how different kinds of changes are labeled.
How to Report a Possible Error
Use our Contact page. A useful report includes:
- the article URL and title;
- the exact sentence, number, image, or conclusion in question;
- why it may be inaccurate or misleading;
- a primary or authoritative source when one is available; and
- your name and relationship to the subject when that context is relevant.
We consider reports from readers, sources, manufacturers, courses, governing bodies, and other affected parties. A request does not guarantee a change; the available evidence determines the outcome.
How We Evaluate a Report
We compare the questioned passage with the source record, publication date, article context, and any newer authoritative information. For equipment coverage, we also check the exact model, configuration, research date, evidence unit, and whether a statement was a manufacturer claim, third-party result, or USA Golf Magazine analysis.
When the evidence is incomplete or disputed, we may add attribution, clarify the uncertainty, or explain why sources disagree instead of presenting one version as settled fact.
Corrections, Clarifications, and Updates
- Correction: fixes a factual error that was wrong when published. If the error materially affected the article’s meaning or recommendation, the article should receive a dated correction note explaining the substantive change.
- Clarification: improves wording or context when the original statement was not clearly false but could reasonably mislead a reader. A material clarification should be noted.
- Update: adds information that became available after publication, such as a new price, product status, rule, result, or evidence source. An update should not be described as a correction unless the earlier article was inaccurate at the time.
- Minor edit: fixes spelling, grammar, formatting, or a broken link without changing the article’s meaning. Minor edits do not normally require a public note.
Scores and Rankings
A score, confidence grade, or ranking may change when exact-model evidence, price, eligibility, or the comparison set changes. A material change should identify the new evidence or rule and the reason for the revision. Missing evidence is not replaced silently with an assumed value.
What We Do Not Change
We do not remove accurate criticism solely because a subject, advertiser, affiliate partner, or source disagrees with it. We will correct an error, add missing context, or provide a fair response when the evidence supports doing so.
